Kathmandu: By-elections are being held today for 41 vacant local-level posts across Nepal, with voting taking place from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The positions include one mayor, one deputy mayor, two rural municipality chairs, four vice-chairs, and 33 ward chairs.
Election Commission (EC) spokesperson Nita Pokhrel Aryal confirmed that all preparations for the by-elections were completed. Voters can cast their ballots at designated polling stations by presenting any valid identification document, including a voter’s ID card, citizenship certificate, national ID, passport, PAN, or driving license.
A total of 376 candidates representing 20 political parties and independent campaigns are competing for the posts. The EC has urged all stakeholders, including political parties, voters, and media, to cooperate in maintaining a free and fair voting environment. Election officials have been instructed to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
